Quba

Quba begins in apple orchards and ends above the treeline. The town itself is quiet and walkable, known for its carpets and its market, and separated by a river bridge from Red Settlement, a Mountain Jewish community that has lived here for centuries and remains one of the few of its kind anywhere. The real draw is the road south-west to Khinalig, a stone village at roughly 2,300 metres whose cultural landscape and transhumance route were inscribed by UNESCO in 2023. Along the way, the Afurja waterfall and the narrow Tengealti canyon break up the drive. Best visited between late spring and October.
